I have always been mesmerized by the rhythm and grace of a pot being formed on a potter’s wheel. There’s a certain organic fluidity that this process imparts upon the pot that I believe is difficult to obtain through other production techniques.
Most of my work begins on a wheel. The thrown forms then may be altered, carved, or joined with hand built or sculpted elements. I love the inherent textural qualities of clay, and use glazes and decoration techniques that highlight those qualities.
Like most potters, I find my inspiration in the natural world around me. I am drawn to nature’s patterns and textures—the way a chicken’s feathers are arranged on her wing, the curve of a goat’s horns, the perfect geometric shapes of individual snowflakes, and the way vines and plants twist and grow to catch the sun’s rays.
Our pottery is designed to be used. We offer a complete line of oven and table ware, including baking dishes, serving bowls and platters, and mugs and tumblers. Custom dinnerware is available. Our studio line features one of a kind pieces that are often more decorative in nature and/or are larger in scale. These include garden pots, urns, large vessels and bottles.
